A workshop open to all the Técnico community will be organised in simultaneous with the course. All attendees of the course are kindly invited and welcomed to participate.
The workshop aim is to showcase examples of offshore engineering. Towards this end, presentations of offshore explorations together with examples of design and analysis of offshore structures will be presented by players of this market.

Title: Subsea Pipeline Design
Description: This presentation will provide an understanding of the activities involved in completing the design of a subsea pipeline. A range of analyses and expertise – including mechanics, geotechnics, material and welding, fluid/structure interaction… – are required to deliver a cost effective, safe and robust solution. The pipeline needs to cope with operating parameters (fluid content, pressure, temperature), rough external environments (current, waves, cyclones) and installation constraints (dedicated vessel capacity, pipeline integrity).

Title: Drilling Derrick Design and Calculation
Description: National Oilwell Varco company presentation and its place in the oil and gas industry. Explanation of the Rig Systems segment and a brief description of the full drilling package that NOV provides for the several mobile drilling units. The design and calculation process of a derrick structure, which is the most important piece of equipment of a drilling rig, will be presented, focusing on shape and function, loads, standards, load combinations, global and local structural analysis.
